I've never seen C code as clear and well documented as tcl. E.g. https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/main/generic/tclUtil.c , though more examples in that project are not hard to find.

…the interpreter. It consists of only 150 SLOC. Anyone could add readline if they really needed it. https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/master/unix/tclAppInit.c

Whenever I look at the Tcl source code, I'm impressed by how clean it is: https://github.com/tcltk/tcl

Tcl has some nice code done in a similar style: https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/master/generic/tclEvent.c

I'm a fan of the Tcl/Apache/BSD style. Indeed, Tcl has nice C code: https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/master/generic/tclCompile....

I'm partial to the Tcl C code: https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/master/generic/tclFCmd.c It's very nicely commented and has a nice, easy to read style throughout ( except for the regexp files).

I am kind of partial to Tcl's C code: https://github.com/tcltk/tcl/blob/master/generic/tclConfig.c Although I think arguing for less uppercase/camelcase would not be entirely out of place. Still though, it's very nice to read.
