  1. If you had one early on consider it again. The first 6 months was abysmal for me, but ever since https://github.com/lima-vm/lima has been locked down I have ways to compile everything and run any container I want. `nerdctl` has taken a…
  2. Wouldn't Lima serve that role? https://github.com/lima-vm/lima If memory serves me right, it works with Podman.
  3. …wrong, I like to pay for things, but I also like to evaluate alternatives! I used this for a while: https://github.com/lima-vm/lima/blob/master/examples/k8s.yam... It wasn't quite perfectly stable, also not maintained by the Kubernetes…
  4. …as my docker host. It's dead easy to set up: `brew install colima` followed by `colima start`. 1: https://github.com/lima-vm/lima 2: https://github.com/abiosoft/colima
  5. …Kubernetes, OpenShift and Docker. Only OpenShift is sketchy on arm64, everything else works great. https://github.com/lima-vm/lima is a great tool to run Linux VM. Also Docker for Mac and Rancher Desktop both work perfectly! But switching…
  6. Lima ( https://github.com/lima-vm/lima ) is the best way I've found to handle Docker on M1. Docker Desktop is a hog. Their FAQs are pretty good, too ( https://github.com/lima-vm/lima#faqs--troubleshooting ).

  7. …machine runs macOS (x86_64), so I have a Linux VM as a remote builder. I happen to use LimaVM ( https://github.com/lima-vm/lima ), but anything would work (Qemu, VirtualBox, the VM bundled with Docker Desktop, etc.). PS: Since containers…

  8. …years, but virtiofs depends on Mac's virtualisation.framework and can't be used in qemu currently. https://github.com/lima-vm/lima/issues/20#issuecomment-10686... Instead 9p experimental support got there a few days ago:…

  13. It looks like Rancher Desktop uses Lima VM ( https://github.com/lima-vm/lima ) under the hood, I suppose in the same way that Docker Desktop uses Hypervisor.framework on macos? This is the first I've heard about the Lima project. I'll be…

  14. …to mention zsh is the login shell out of the box… It’s more flexible that WSL2 in my opinion See https://github.com/lima-vm/lima for a very friendly QEMU wrapper running on M1

  17. I have been using Lima https://github.com/lima-vm/lima which incidentally is the project behind both rancher desktop and colima I believe. QEMU support allows for running e.g. x86 on arm (with perf/efficiency tradeoffs)
  18. I do a similar thing using Lima (which uses Qemu under the hood) https://github.com/lima-vm/lima (I'm not a fan of Docker, but unfortunately work on some projects that use it)

  23. Multipass uses reverse sshfs for mounting into the VM. This is a concept also used by lima now. https://github.com/lima-vm/lima
  24. Lima is also a solid alternative for macOS users. https://github.com/lima-vm/lima It runs containerd+nerdctl but I've heard it can also be set up to run Moby engine (docker). https://twitter.com/_AkihiroSuda_/status/1432906244860223493
